Hydropower

Hydroelectric and other dams deny fish access to large areas of important habitat. Irrigation dams on tributaries block access to spawning areas. Dams also change water temperatures, submerge spawning habitat, alter river flows, increase local nitrogen levels and foster easy predation. However, dams are here to stay. The removal of a dam like Bonneville, Chief Joseph or the Dalles would take decades. Our salmon don't have that long.
