The Harvest Problem
The most profound obstacles that impacts salmon and steelhead recovery is non-selective over harvest.
More than 100 years of non-selective over-harvesting of our native Northwest Pacific salmon has decimated the native fish runs.
It is not enough to have abundant hatchery fish. To save our wild salmon populations, we must act now to implement selective harvest.
If we continue current harvest practices, we will lose our native runs in the next 10 years.
Fortunately, we have a solution in mind. |
